Derrick Duvert started his dance training at the Harlem school of the Arts where he trained in Hip-Hop, African, Ballet, and Modern. He later performed at the 2011 Bessie Awards at the Apollo, under the direction of Aubrey Lynch. He joined the Academy of Dance Arts under the direction of Nick and Shayne Mishoe, where he strictly studied Classical Ballet, RAD, Classical Partnering, Lester Horton, and Martha Graham Techniques. He performed with the Company of Dance Arts production of the Wizard of Oz in 2014 at the Count Basie Theatre.He later joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem School under the direction of Augustus Van Heerdan, where he performed Geoffery Holder’s “Dougla” at the company’s 2015 opening night at their New York City Center season. He later obtained his Classical Pilates Certification from CorePilates NYC’s 600 hour Comprehensive Certification Program in 2019. He is trained to instruct mat classes, as well as all Pilates apparatus’s. He’s been a freelance instructor since February 2020.
Stephanie Giuliani
Jennifer Ruggiero July 8, 2021Stephanie Giuliani is a Pilates Instructor and dancer originally from Minnesota. She graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor’s in Dance concentrating in Physical Therapy and Performance with minors in Somatics and Philosophy in June 2020. At Drexel, she completed the Drexel Pilates Training Program under the leadership of Jennifer Morely who has certifications from Romana Kryzanowska (Romana’s Pilates) and Karen Carlson (Pineland Pilates).
Collaborating her experience of dance and movement with her knowledge of anatomy, Stephanie often focuses the somatic and embodiment of the Pilates practice. After spending time in NYC for an internship in 2018, Stephanie is excited to be back with The Pilates Movement in 2021.
Kristia Lui
Jennifer Ruggiero March 30, 2021Kristia has a passion for dance, movement, and living a functional and healthy lifestyle. She first started taking Pilates classes in 2014 as a way to keep her body moving while dealing with a knee issue that had developed over the years from dance and fitness training. After a few classes, she noticed how beneficial Pilates was to her overall strength and wellness. Kristia pursued her passion and received her Pilates certification through Core Pilates NYC. She teaches with positivity, encouragement, and warmth and is excited to share the transformative benefits of Pilates with others. Kristia joined the team at The Pilates Movement in April 2021 and teaches in studio and on our virtual platform.
Alanna Campbell
Jennifer Ruggiero February 27, 2019Alanna is a Pilates instructor and professional dancer from South Jersey. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Drexel University with her Bachelor’s in Dance with concentrations in Performance and Physical Therapy, as well as a minor in Somatics. During college, she connected and delved into her Pilates practice, completing her classical comprehensive training through the Drexel Pilates Program in 2016, under the direction of Jennifer Morley. With Alanna’s dance background and experiences at Trinity Laban Music and Dance Conservatoire in London, Philadanco II, and Broadway Dance Center’s Summer Session/Pro Sem blended with her passionate interest in kinesiology, her approach is deeply rooted in embodiment and catering to the biomechanics of each body. Alanna is currently teaching only on our virtual platform.
Noah Damer
Jennifer Ruggiero November 21, 2018Noah Damer is an interdisciplinary dancer, actor and a pilates instructor. His passion for pilates led him to obtain his formal Comprehensive pilates teacher training through Balanced Body under the direction of Lesley Powell of Movements Afoot in NyC . He also holds a BA in Dance and Theater from Hunter College and continues to perform nationally and internationally. Noah also brings his experience with Somatic approaches of AlexanderTechnique, Feldenkrais Method, and Iyengar Yoga in his private sessions and as well as group classes. His classes are geared towards full bodied movement experience with a focus on proper alignment and healthy movement mechanics. Currently, Noah is teaching in studio and on our virtual platform.
Annie Chen
Jennifer Ruggiero August 21, 2018Annie is a certified Pilates instructor and integrative nutrition health coach. After 20 years in global business development, Annie decided to pursue her passion in movement. As an avid cyclist, skier, and backpacker, she believes that Pilates and functional movement have not only helped her be stronger post major surgery, but also prevent serious injury. Annie joined the teaching staff in August 2018. She currently teaches in studio and on our virtual platform.
Taylor Gordon
Jennifer Ruggiero March 21, 2016Taylor Gordon is a NYC-based Pilates instructor and dancer with over a decade of teaching experience. She received her mat & apparatus certifications through Pilates Academy International, where she was also a Teacher Trainer. Through the American Council on Exercise, she holds specialist certifications in Senior Fitness, Functional Training, and Group Fitness and she completed her 200-hour Yoga Certification. She has taught and performed in Bali, Tokyo, Shanghai, India, and all across the US and she has workout videos on Amazon. Taylor has worked with all levels, ages, and abilities of Pilates students including injured and blind clients, and she enjoys sharing the joy of movement. Her Pilates teaching experience in NYC includes Pilates on Fifth, Crunch, The United Nations Ballet Club, and The Mercedes Club. Taylor has danced at Lincoln Center with The Metropolitan Opera Ballet, 4 seasons of The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Off-Broadway and national tour of Angelina Ballerina The Musical, internationally as a director and dance captain with Spirit Productions, and many more. She earned a BA in Communication Arts and a Master’s Degree in Publishing by age 20 and writes freelance. Taylor joined the staff at The Pilates Movement in April of 2016. Currently, she teaches in studio and on our virtual platform.
Jesolyn Lucas
Roman January 16, 2015Jesolyn first discovered Classical Pilates in 1995 with Master Teacher Dorothee VandeWalle. From her first lesson, Jesolyn was drawn to the precision, clarity of movement and lyric of the work. Her training has continued and deepened under the watchful eyes of many Classical Pilates “legends”, including Dorothee VandeWalle, Kelly Kane, Jerome Weinberg, Janice Dulak, Moses Urbano, Cynthia Shipley, and Sari Mejia Santo.
She is committed to the work and to sharpening her understanding of the Classical Pilates method with trainers around the country. Jesolyn also recently completed an MA in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU to enhance her awareness and knowledge of the mind-body connection and to compliment her dedication to her clientfocused teaching style.
Her detailed, hands-on approach to the work honors the tradition of the original, authentic Pilates repertoire. Jesolyn is devoted to teaching with integrity and to sharing her years of experience and love of this incredible method with her clients. She joined The Pilates Movement staff in October 2014. Currently, Jesolyn is only teaching on our virtual platform.
Katie Wilson
Roman January 16, 2015Katie Wilson began studying Pilates in 2011 at the urging of her ballet teacher. The work completely transformed her body and her dancing. Once an over-cooked spaghetti noodle, Katie found herself becoming a little more al dente – stronger in her core and toned all over. She became a certified Romana’s Pilates Instructor from True Pilates New York and has continued her education with workshops from the Kinected Center, Bob Liekens, Sean Gallagher, Elaine Ewing, Jennifer DeLuca, Marcy Schafler, the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, and Irene Dowd. Katie has been teaching at The Pilates Movement and other studios in NYC since 2014. Currently, she teaches in studio and on our virtual platform.
Kailey McCarthy
Roman January 16, 2015Kailey McCarthy was introduced to Pilates at the age of fifteen when her dance instructor informed her she was engaging the wrong muscles to initiate movement. After benefiting from the Pilates method and reprogramming her body to move more efficiently, she went on to earn a BFA in dance from the University of Arizona and dance professionally in numerous companies. She has toured internationally, performed with world renowned aerial dance company OTO Dance, performed in New York City, and produced her own modern dance concerts in New York before she returned to Arizona to study to become a Pilates instructor.
Kailey is nationally certified through the PMA and received her diploma for comprehensive training from Pilates Core Integration. She also holds a Massage Certification from The School of Healing Arts, San Diego. Kailey has extensive experience teaching Pilates to special populations. She has been on staff at The Pilates Movement since 2013. Currently, Kailey is only teaching on our virtual platform.
